Nursery B

Nursery News
May Edition

We hope that you are enjoying this beautiful spring weather as much as we are!  We have been exploring the outdoors and playing on the playground.  We will be spending a lot more time outside so please be sure to dress your child in comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and sneakers every day.

Last month we celebrated Earth Day and we discussed many ways in which we can help to protect the earth.  We have also been exploring the differences between living and nonliving things.  We have learned a lot about different types of animals that hatch from eggs, as well as the life cycle of chickens, butterflies, and frogs. The children were able to observe baby chicks in the library as they hatched and grew.  We are sad to say goodbye to them but are happy that they will be moving to a farm where they will have more room to roam around.

We have many exciting things planned for the month of May.   We will be learning about flowers, insects, birds, and pond and ocean animals.  We will also be experimenting with water, colors and plant life. We will continue working on name recognition, tracing, cutting and coloring skills.

Ways You Can Help Your Child

*Read to your child as often as possible.

* Provide your child with the opportunity to practice cutting in a supervised setting.   We are working on scissor skills (holding the scissors properly, cutting on a line, and holding and turning the paper while cutting) in the classroom and the children are making a lot of progress in this area.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you have.  You can reach me at the school or email me at
