7th Grade Social Studies

This will be the first half of American History, covering early Native American settlers through the end of the Civil War. Students will be able to accurately use primary sources and evidence in answering writing assignments and come away with a greater scope of the founding of our nation. We will discuss the early inhabitants and cultures of the Native Americans and how geography developed their cultures.

As well, we will travel through colonial development and the War for American Independence. This will involve greater detail about the founding of our nation, the current government structure and the U.S. Constitution. The class will also go through Westward Expansion, times of great intellectual transformations in American Society, and lastly the division of the United States in the mid-19th century over the power of states rights and differences in culture.

7th Grade Assignments:

-School contract must be signed and returned to Mr. Clareen by Wednesday, September 6, 2017. 

-Read workbook pages 2-4 and answer all of the questions, due on Monday, September 11, 2017. 

-"Take Home Quiz: Chapter 1" due on Friday, September 15, 2017. Remember to complete the main idea questions, #1-3 on the first page and the review section on the final page. Do not complete the "In Your Own Words" section of the biography.  

-Iroquois Constitution worksheet due on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

-The Native American Project and research essay are due on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
