We have had a wonderful start to the year. The students have settled in quickly and have gotten the routine down well.

This week we will delve into our academic lessons. We completed Lesson 1 in our Reading. "What is a Pal" focused on, just as the title indicates, what makes someone, or something, a pal.
Lesson 2 - "The Storm" will have the children understanding characters.
Our words to know this week are: for, he, what, look, have, and too.
In Phonics we will study words with short i, as well as consonants r, h, /z/s, b, and g
Spelling words for this week are: if, is, him, rip, fit, and pin.
Our grammar lessons will be about  possessive nouns.

In Math, we are half way through Chapter 1 - Addition Concepts
The students are learning different strategies to help them add 2 numbers up to the sum of 10. We will be having our first Math test for Chapter 1 on Tuesday, September 25. Review workbook homework this week. I will send home the completed reteach and Big Book pages for review on Friday.

In Religion, we are learning about God our Father and how He created everything. All he created is good.

In Social Studies we are beginning our unit on Rules and Laws and how it relates to our everyday life.

In Science we are beginning our Lessons on Living and Non-living things. Children will discover the characteristics of Living things and how this is different from non-living things.

If there are any changes regarding a dismissal, please write a note and place it in your child's folder for me. If it is a change that happens after the school day has begun, please call the school at the earliest possible time. If possible, follow up with an email to me.

  •  All books and supplies (as well as sweaters, jackets and coats) should have your child's name clearly printed on them.
  • All written correspondence should be placed in your child's daily "Take Home" folder. I will use the same to communicate or respond to you. E-mail is my preferred method of communication. However, I am very flexible and will accommodate you and your preference.

  • A healthy snack and a water bottle should be sent in every day (including half days). We are a peanut allergy aware school. Please keep this in mind when packing your child's snack. On gym days and days when the temperature is high, please pack an extra water bottle. VERY IMPORTANT! Please close any drinks securely before packing them in your child's lunch bag.
