4th Grade Classroom Guidance
September

1.Meet Your School Counselor Activity- This week I introduced myself and my role as your child's school counselor, "Learn S-more About your School Counselor" activity. I will be teaching classroom lessons and helping your child have a great year! School Counselors often check in with students to help them with friends, schoolwork, and any not-so- good feelings. Please contact me this year if I can help your child!

1. Lift off to Leadership- Students identified qualities of a leader, read a fiction text and identified if the character was displaying leadership qualities. We then identified as a class how we can be leaders in our everyday lives. Students explored their own self-confidence and ability to succeed, as well as positive attitude toward school, learning, and peers.

2. Community Building Assumptions Activity- This week students discussed how making assumptions about others based on outward appearances limits our understanding. Students learned how to unwrap assumptions and build strong communities by truly getting to know others, seeking to understand, and being okay with differences. Students created their own mummies where they identified facts that people would learn about them if they took the time to get to know them.
